Cathay Pacific’s The Arrival is a small lounge, I imagine that it gets very busy in the mornings but was very quiet when we arrived in the late evening.
In LHR the arrival lounges all shut by the early afternoon, so it is refreshing to see an arrival facility which is kept open all day long. The Arrival embraces the concept that time zones are fluid in the world of international travel, people could be hungry or in need of a shower a any time of the Hong Kong day, having arrived from anywhere on Earth.
The lounge is effectively a long corridor, flanked by two rows of seats with iMacs. One of these rows is set up in a causal counter style. The other is set up as series of cubicles with Eames office chairs.
We set ourselves up in the dining area of the lounge where we were greeted by a server, who informed us of the evening a la carte menu options. I ordered a bento box and went to explore the buffet.
After eating I went for a quick shower. The showers don’t need to be reserved at this time of day, each of the bathroom stalls features a spotlessly clean shower which you can just walk up and use.
The Arrival is unique in the fact that it is open so late, having the option to arrive, get showered and then head straight into town for a night out, is amazing.
This isn’t a lounge where you would want or need to spend a huge amount of time but it is well appointed and has everything you need. It is a great place to quickly and easily arrive refreshed and ready to head into Hong Kong.
