Intro
The domestic terminal at Saigon airport is a pretty depressing place. The low ceilinged hallways are filled with off brand shops selling useless souvenirs as crowds amass in endless rows of blue seats. The Lotus Lounge provided a much needed sanctum away from the chaos, particularly since our flight ended up being delayed for over an hour.
The Lotus Lounge cannot be accessed via Priority Pass but an alternative lounge: Le Saigonnais is available near gate 10 should you not have access here.
The Lounge
The lounge is located in a corner of the terminal, meaning that it has windows wrapping all the way around it – the kind of privileged location that only an airport’s home carrier can usually command. The lounge was busy throughout our stay but never overcrowded, seats were always available.
There were numerous sections in addition to the main seating area by the entrance: an office space, a TV nook and even a spot with an electronic massage chair.
Our preferred spot was the bar area facing the windows, since it had very few seats and felt quite private whilst still having a view. Plus it was right next to the buffet!
Speaking of which, the buffet selection was extremely good. Even more so when you consider that this is just a domestic lounge, where the majority of passengers will be flying for less than 2 hours. Sliced dragon fruit, shrimp dumplings, braised pork, bamboo and lotus shoots… so much amazing food.
I really appreciated the fact that there were bottles and cans of drink available to take with you on your flight, in addition to the soda fountain too.
Conclusion
This is pretty much as good as it gets for a domestic lounge; this space honestly surpassed all expectations.
There was ample seating, a lot of natural light, amazing food, a selection of drinks available to take away, the wifi worked well and the staff were very proactive in clearing tables.
There was no alcohol on offer aside from the 333 beer and none of the seats in the restaurant area had power but otherwise this lounge was great!
