REVIEW – Garuda Indonesia : First Class – Jakarta CGK to London LHR (B777)

There's a lot to like about Garuda as an airline but one thing is abundantly clear. The Business Class is so good that First feels slightly disappointing in comparison. The tableware, hot towels, food, drink and amenity kit are almost identical between the two products. The IFE is just as antiquated in both cabins and is well overdue for an upgrade. I found the service to be professional and well intentioned but somewhat lacking in warmth. The crew didn't go out of their way to make proactive suggestions or engage in conversation in the way that I've encountered on JAL, ANA, Cathay or Singapore - airlines which are natural competitors for Garuda.

REVIEW – Air France : Business Class – A321 – Tunis TUN to Paris CDG

My first ever experience of Air France business class was extremely positive. Compared to BA Club Europe the service was a lot more relaxed and attentive (the passenger to crew ratio was much better on this flight than any that BA imposes on its staff and customers)

REVIEW – Air France : Business Class – B772 – Paris CDG to Guangzhou CAN

First and foremost the service was excellent. The staff were very engaging and friendly and were always looking to anticipate demands and make the experience as comfortable as possible for passengers. On this basis alone I'd be happy to fly AF again.The seat however is good but not great...

REVIEW – China Southern : Business Class – A321 – Guangzhou CAN to Saigon SGN

This was a superb flight and the defining feature for me was the service. This was better than I could ever have hoped for in short haul business.  The PA that talked us through the flight details, the prioritisation of business class passengers, the slipper service, instant clearing of wrappers and empty trays, proactive drinks top ups and the genuine warmth when the FA noticed Kamara's reading light wasn't turned on - all hallmarks of great service.
