lotus lounge CXR

REVIEW – Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge : Cam Ranh CXR (International)

The modern lounge design and abundance of light are definite pluses but the lack of charging points and low quality alcohol selection detract from the overall experience. Overall this is a perfectly acceptable spot to spend some time before your flight. If you had a couple of hours here I'm sure you'd be fine just sitting by the window and watching the planes go by. Personally I wasn't overly disappointed by the fact that we only had ten minutes here.

Welcome to TheLuxuryTraveller.com, a thorough and extensive database of my travel reviews.

I fly over 100,000 miles per year in First and Business class and have reviewed the majority of the world's top onboard products for this blog. If you think that premium cabin travel is out of reach, read on to learn the tricks I use to fly around the world.

I also love visiting luxury hotels and resorts. I have reviewed a wide variety running the range from Park Hyatts and Ritz Carltons bookable with hotel points, right through to some of the world's most exclusive brands like Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental and Aman.

Finally, I am a firm believer in the fact that the purest expression of a culture is in its cuisine. I love to eat and have written at length about some of my favourite restaurants around the globe.

cx a330 business class

REVIEW – Cathay Pacific : Business – Sydney to Hong Kong (A330 Longhaul Config)

My seat was in the first row of the mini-cabin (19A), which could have meant extra noise from the galley. I had a feeling this wouldn't be a problem on CX, an airline renowned for the quality of the in flight service (I was right). The benefit is that you get an extra large foot cubby!

qantas business class 737

REVIEW – Qantas: Business Class – Sydney to Melbourne (B767)

Overall, the experience with Qantas was mixed. The crew are very helpful and friendly. They have their wits about them and behave like competent, experienced adults. With some other airlines you get younger crews who may look better but you get the feeling that their ability to improvise, go the extra mile or even engage in decent conversation is somewhat limited.

REVIEW – Qantas: Business – Tokyo to Sydney (April 2014)

Unfortunately the bed in the 744 is not 100% flat, the foot rest sags and you do end up sliding a bit. I usually have trouble sleeping on planes and this flight was no exception. I ended up just watching movies for a few hours whilst everybody else slept. On the plus side, this meant I was awake to see the epic sunrise

virgin japanese catering

REVIEW – Virgin Atlantic : Upper Class – London to Tokyo (A340)

All in all this was a great flight, VS has a great ground experience although the addition of Delta elites seems to have had a negative impact during the first week of crossover benefits, the time in which we were travelling, I'm sure this will be ironed out over time. On board, the crew were engaging, proactive and chatty. The beds are fully flat and private plus there is a decent snack menu and a bar. Also, PJs in Business Class!

REVIEW – Virgin Atlantic : Upper Class – London to Tokyo (A340)

After months of waiting, the day of my first ever flight in Virgin Upper Class had arrived! Wanting to maximise my time in the clubhouse I booked a taxi for 8am. Despite some pretty bad traffic, we pulled up to the gate of the UC wing at around 9:45, plenty of time to enjoy the facilities before the 1:45pm flight... only to be told that there was a technical issue with the barrier.
