In summary, Ritz Carlton Maldives offers Kerry Hill architecture and the best service we've ever encountered in this atoll nation.
Perhaps one day Aman will open a property in the Maldives... for the time being though, this is as close as it gets.
Overall this was one of my best ever hotel stays. The staff were a huge part of this. Despite this being a 5* hotel, the service managed to be proactive and friendly without any stuffiness or excess formality at all. The most formal people were those behind desks at reception downstairs and in the main lobby, even they would always grin and greet you with a a wai whenever you walked past.
The Hilton Zurich Airport is clean and the rooms are decently sized. The bar is lively and functions into the wee hours, so you actually feel like you're on holiday here. The lounge is also very pleasant, with fantastic staff.
However, the lack of decent gym facilities and the sanitised feel of the decor, coupled with the distance from the airport terminal, means that I will likely try the Radisson Blu next time. (Note: I did, it was much better!)
I arrived a little after midnight and walked the ten minutes or so from the HEL airport terminal to the hotel. The walk is mostly covered but there are a few stairs involved, unless you want to take a more circuitous routing. I waited until the morning to get decent light for the pictures in the public areas.
My stay at the Hotel Indigo Helsinki exceeded my expectations. The hotel felt very new and cool, without having the weird try hard feel of some Ws, I also love how small and cosy it felt. Truly a boutique feel, rather than the bland enormity of a regular chain stay. The staff were friendly, proactive and very helpful indeed.
