Stopovers are no longer allowed on intra-South America awards effective immediately
This has been confirmed to me by multiple agents at Alaska and the rule is being strictly enforced, despite not being advertised on the Alaska website:
I don't think there's any doubting that this is the best hotel in Barcelona but the value proposition is a little hard to justify, particularly when rooms at the newly refurbished Intercontinental are 1/3 of the price or less.
Overall it is hard to deny that Amanpuri is the best resort in Phuket. This is manifestly clear. However the leap in price between Amanpuri and its very close peers means that the resort will continue to work to prove itself....a fact for which I am deeply thankful.

I spent about an hour in the lounge and was able to eat, drink, send a couple of emails and sort through all my papers and reservations for the rest of the trip. It was much nicer than waiting at the gate but really not worth turning up early for.
If I’d paid the big bucks for SQ suites, I would certainly view this lounge as a disappointment. Within Terminal 3 alone, there is a better Business Class lounge (The Virgin clubhouse).

My plan was to maintain my body clock on Asian time, whilst living and working in London. I would be visiting the gym at 4am and getting to sleep by 7pm (work permitting).

This trip was awesome.
I went one and a half times around the world in the space of 2 weeks.
I snowboarded in Japan, hung out by the pool in LA, went to Katz's deli in NY, drank at a rooftop bar in Singapore, hung out in the world's tallest Park Hyatt in Shanghai and tried four different SQ premium cabins.
It turned out that we could connect onward to MNL from SIN in First Class with a very comfortable connection time, at no extra mileage cost. This is the longest free First Class connection route ex-Europe on Singapore Air.
