Superb room hardware and the game viewing was as private and wild as you could possibly hope for. For the majority of our time on the game drives, it felt like we were at one with nature, totally disconnected from other human beings and the outside world.
When I saw an airfare from Tunisia to Vietnam flying a combination of Air France and China Southern (both for the first time!), with the possibility of an extended stopover in Paris for £650 per person, round trip - I booked instantly. No questions asked.
My first ever experience of Air France business class was extremely positive. Compared to BA Club Europe the service was a lot more relaxed and attentive (the passenger to crew ratio was much better on this flight than any that BA imposes on its staff and customers)
Air France has universally been recognised as having one of the world's best First Class lounges. The Business Class facilities had long been conspicuous for their relative state of neglect and disrepair. With the newly renovated Hall L lounge Air France has made a strong statement of intent.
Gone are the dreary, utilitarian days of yore. Now Air France wants to present varied seating, art, cocktails and abundant light.
