In summary, Ritz Carlton Maldives offers Kerry Hill architecture and the best service we've ever encountered in this atoll nation.
Perhaps one day Aman will open a property in the Maldives... for the time being though, this is as close as it gets.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have mixed feelings about Virgin Atlantic. They have a general air of fun and excitement about their product but it can sometimes fail to deliver. The ground experience in J is as good or better than in F for most airlines. The catering can run the gamut from horrible to pretty damn good.
All in all this was a great flight, VS has a great ground experience although the addition of Delta elites seems to have had a negative impact during the first week of crossover benefits, the time in which we were travelling, I'm sure this will be ironed out over time.
On board, the crew were engaging, proactive and chatty. The beds are fully flat and private plus there is a decent snack menu and a bar. Also, PJs in Business Class!
Although I really love the size of the rooms, the decor and location of the Conrad, there is something very special about the PH Tokyo, which really does make it stand out in Tokyo and for that matter, the world.
The level of service is just exceptional and that calm sense of serenity, the feeling that you are in a space which transcends the city, is remarkable. If you have a chance to stay here, do. If you didn't think you had a reason to visit Tokyo, start with this hotel. There is no one 'monument' that really puts Tokyo on the map. I love the city because of the deep energy and the sheer variety of experiences on offer. I understand that this alone can make it hard to convince people to visit.
Our stay at the ANA Kyoto was really good. For the price, the place is unbeatable. You have great service, really comfortable beds, Kyoto castle on your doorstep, a really relaxing waterfall lobby and shuttles every 15 minutes directly to the train station.
I definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
