Intercontinental JNB - Swimming Pool

REVIEW – Intercontinental JNB Airport

This is a hotel that is moments away from the airport. It ticks all of the items in my basics checklist and also has a full size gym and excellent restaurant. The room decor is a cut above most airport hotels globally, as is the service. Unless you have a layover of over 20 hours I can't imagine why you'd consider anywhere else in Joburg.

Amilla 88 - REVIEW - Amilla : Sunset Water Pool Villa

REVIEW – Amilla : Sunset Water Pool Villa

It's safe to say that this stay absolutely blew away all of my expectations. Amilla is a resort that delivered not just on the things that I thought I wanted it fulfilled knew needs that I didn't even know I had. The food was comfortably amongst the best we've ever encountered in the Maldives. The bed was also the biggest and the snorkelling the best I've ever encountered. The variety of accommodation options is fantastic and the combination of beach, treetop, bubble and overwater could keep you entertained for weeks.

Nuriss – A Luxury PCR test in London

PCR Testing is an inevitability of the current travel environment and if you're UK based it certainly seems that this will be a requirement for some time to come. With PCR tests ranging in price from £100 to £200 or even more, I've been curious to try various options at the lower end of the pricing spectrum to see how they compare...

Emirates A380 First Class cabin

REVIEW – Emirates : First Class – A380 – London (LGW) to Dubai (DXB)

Expectations can be an odd thing. Emirates First Class is an internationally renowned product, even outside of the frequent flyer community people are likely to have heard of the shower suites and the on board lounge bar (which I had no time to visit on this short flight). This is a cabin which has a halo effect over the entire Emirates brand, meaning that people buy Economy seats on Emirates, on the basis of how good their First Class is...

Emirates Gatwick Lounge seating

REVIEW – Emirates Lounge – London (LGW)

This isn't the kind of place the you turn up early to experience, although outstation lounges very rarely are. The food is the only truly premium aspect of Emirates' Gatwick lounge offering. What's strange is how easily some glaring errors could be fixed to radically transform the experience...

constance moofushi 148 1080x750 - REVIEW - Constance Moofushi : Water Villa

REVIEW – Constance Moofushi : Water Villa

There are a lot of things to like about Constance Moofushi. The reef and lagoon are truly spectacular. If you're into diving, the Ari Atoll also has some of the very best dive sites on earth. The vegetation is lush and dense and the sand quality is fantastic too. This is not a resort which is lacking in natural charm.

Conrad maldives breakfast

GUIDE – Eating and Drinking at the Conrad Maldives

The Conrad Maldives has a huge variety of different eating and drinking establishments located across both islands. The most famous of which is Ithaa, the underwater restaurant, which I personally didn't bother with - it is universally derided for being an eye wateringly expensive tourist trap (I did clear a little bit of debris off the glass ceiling for the poor suckers inside, during our orientation dive though ?.) Whilst it is easy enough to drastically reduce the cost of accommodation here, you will realistically need to budget at least an additional $50 per person per day in order to eat lunch and/or dinner. Add to this the cost of the seaplane transfers and you can see that this is still by no means a cheap holiday, even if you are getting it 'cheaper'.
