Whilst BA has gone down the route of creating additional plastic waste and reducing the quality of wine on board, Qatar has instead opted to give full bottles of sanitiser to passengers in addition to providing them all with face shields, gloves and face masks.
I was curious to see the new First Class cabin in the flesh and when you compare it to the 14 seat cabins that previously graced the 777 this is clearly a superior product.
The doors are actually the least exciting change in my mind. I can see the business logic for installing them but in reality they make little difference to the overall experience.
Book Four Seasons Dubai at Jumeirah Beach with Classic Travel Intro and Booking Jump straight to the Conclusion This is a bit of a weird hybrid review. Personally I stayed at the Four Seasons DIFC during this trip (as well as spending a few nights at the Andaz the Palm […]
I had two terrible nights of sleep here and despite that I would still return in a heartbeat and emphatically recommend this hotel to anybody.
The quality of the hardware and service isn't just better than everything in Dubai, its up there with the best I've ever encountered globally. Despite very healthy occupancy by COVID standards the property almost always felt like it was ours alone. It is hard to overstate how special it is to have this feeling in a large city like Dubai.
I'm not going to lie, I've had mixed experiences with the Andaz brand in the past. I struggle to see how a hotel can be both casual and luxurious at the same time. All too often you'll find that youth oriented brands like W, Andaz and Edition are just cutting corners but still charging luxury prices...
It's been a while since any hotel I stayed at hit every single one of the basics on my checklist and that alone should tell you something.
The Waldorf Astoria DIFC is a hotel that offers a hell of a lot in a market which is arguably rather saturated already. The decor makes it a real standout amongst DIFC properties and the location makes it an ideal base of operations for a visit to Dubai...
To be able to fly at all right now is a real privilege in the current era and BA's Club Suites present you with just about the most socially distanced product you could hope for in Business Class. If you're hungry, eat before; if you're thirsty, you'll be taken care of. Right now this is the new normal and for the time being I'm ok with it...
A number of my friends happened to be gathering on my birthday weekend in Dubai. Flights were cheap, award availability was plentiful and Dubai's luxury hotels appeared to be experimenting in delivering a price as close to free as humanly possible...
Although I really love the size of the rooms, the decor and location of the Conrad, there is something very special about the PH Tokyo, which really does make it stand out in Tokyo and for that matter, the world.
The level of service is just exceptional and that calm sense of serenity, the feeling that you are in a space which transcends the city, is remarkable. If you have a chance to stay here, do. If you didn't think you had a reason to visit Tokyo, start with this hotel. There is no one 'monument' that really puts Tokyo on the map. I love the city because of the deep energy and the sheer variety of experiences on offer. I understand that this alone can make it hard to convince people to visit.
The Park Hyatt Melbourne has all the makings of a great hotel but the finishes need to be spotless in a Park Hyatt. Any mechanisms need to function without problems. Cables need to be tidied inside consoles or at least pinned or bundled in some way. Empty plates, towels and bottles need to be cleared in a timely fashion. Most of all, the staff need to be helpful and courteous.
The Park Hyatt Sydney isn't cheap. Even when using 10% discount codes on gift certificates, this hotel isn't even on nodding terms with cheap.
However the Park Hyatt Sydney is worth every penny.
The staff are aware of the fact that they have a hell of a reputation to live up, due in no small part to the hotel's location. They deal with this pressure with charm, competence and a true sense of what hospitality means.
If you can, make sure you come here at least once in your life. If your budget won't permit a stay then consider going for breakfast, just to take in the fantastic view (and those omelettes!).
You won't be disappointed.
Park Hyatt Sydney. Believe the hype.
Overall, this was a superb stay. The hotel really went the extra mile with the upgrades and amenities, particularly given that I was back to Platinum status at the time of my stay. The grounds are meticulously maintained and there were no signs of wear and tear on anything at all.
Given how close Dubai is to London I have a feeling we'll be making trips here something of a regular occurrence.
