The Oberoi New Delhi is a property which we almost stumbled onto accidentally but ended up loving. The room hardware and public spaces are thoroughly modern and service is as good as any that I have encountered in any city hotel.
After a fantastic few hours spent enjoying the restaurant quality food and drink at the private First Class Terminal, we were guided through a private border post and had our bags loaded onto our Porsche transfer vehicle.
Superb room hardware and the game viewing was as private and wild as you could possibly hope for. For the majority of our time on the game drives, it felt like we were at one with nature, totally disconnected from other human beings and the outside world.
At NRT we were able to use the superb JAL Business Class lounge. Having previously spent time in the ANA First Class lounge, I can unequivocally state that the JAL lounge utterly destroys it.
From the moment you see the Gold lettering on the grey slate wall, the JAL lounge's elegance is readily apparent.
The hard product on JL is very comfortable but also a little spartan feeling. The seat and bed are superior to BA First but the styling and finishes are not.
The food was a big disappointment, at least when it came to the main omakase meal. The freshly cooked rice was great though and the beverage selection is second to none (and equalled only by NH First Class in my experience).
This lounge is all about luxury and quality. Total comfort with zero bling. I absolutely loved the RED suite. One of my other big passions outside of planes is shoes, so having the John Lobb concession there was a real treat!
