REVIEW – Rosewood Hong Kong

If you're only in town for a day or two, especially if this is your first visit, then perhaps you'd be better served by a property that has less to offer. Honestly a key 'problem' that we faced here is that we had to really drag ourselves away to explore the city. Any moment spent outside of the hotel seemed like a waste because being on property is just that good.

REVIEW – Belmond Hiram Bingham Train (Machu Picchu)

Belmond's Hiram Bingham is a beautifully restored and maintained train, which truly immersed us in the golden age of rail travel. There is no question that the overall experience is very luxurious and that it is the ideal way to circumvent some of the more onerous government regulation, that makes visiting the citadel of Machu Picchu so complicated.

REVIEW – Joali Being, Maldives

Do people spending thousands per night really want to focus on health and wellbeing, or is luxury only possible when eating fatty foods, drinking fine wines and avoiding physical activity? My suspicion was that the wellness concept had the potential to be overbearing and certainly seems like a niche offering, but it is one that I was very intrigued to experience nevertheless....

REVIEW – Four Seasons Geneva (Hotel des Bergues)

Four Seasons Geneva really surprised me. I had been expecting a rather stuffy and old fashioned hotel, the antithesis to the sleek and modern Four Seasons Bangkok. Instead, I found a property with impeccably maintained historical features, married perfectly with modern touches like bedside USB ports, hammam style steam showers, rooftop sushi and indeed a very young and enthusiastic staff.

REVIEW – SWISS : First Class – Montreal YUL to Zurich ZRH (B777)

After 24 hours enjoying the sights and food of the beautiful, wintry city of Montreal it was finally time to step into SWISS' all new B777 First Class cabin. I was so happy to be able to plan the trip in a way that let me try the older A330 product beforehand as it meant I could finish on a real high note.

REVIEW – Air France : Business Class – B772 – Paris CDG to Guangzhou CAN

First and foremost the service was excellent. The staff were very engaging and friendly and were always looking to anticipate demands and make the experience as comfortable as possible for passengers. On this basis alone I'd be happy to fly AF again. The seat however is good but not great...

REVIEW – JAL : First Class – B777 – Tokyo (HND) to London (LHR)

Although there are some aspects of the JAL First Class experience which have changed over the years, the product as a whole is remarkably consistent. Having flown it on five occasions I'd be more than happy to recommend it to anybody that enjoys good food and wine. The service has also been excellent on the majority of my flights.

REVIEW – British Airways : First Class Suites – B777 – London (LHR) to Malé (MLE) – [COVID-era]

I was curious to see the new First Class cabin in the flesh and when you compare it to the 14 seat cabins that previously graced the 777 this is clearly a superior product. The doors are actually the least exciting change in my mind. I can see the business logic for installing them but in reality they make little difference to the overall experience.
