Four Seasons Geneva really surprised me. I had been expecting a rather stuffy and old fashioned hotel, the antithesis to the sleek and modern Four Seasons Bangkok. Instead, I found a property with impeccably maintained historical features, married perfectly with modern touches like bedside USB ports, hammam style steam showers, rooftop sushi and indeed a very young and enthusiastic staff.

Intercontinental is a weird hotel brand. It is so inconsistent from one location to the next that it's impossible to pin down what exactly the brand stands for and what one can reasonably expect when selecting an Intercontinental hotel.

On the whole, the Hilton Cairns was hard not to like. The location is just so great, the feel so relaxed, the staff so welcoming, it makes you feel like you're a million miles away from the 'real world'. The flipside to this is that some of the luxuries of city life are missing. On the whole though, I'm not complaining. I mean just look at Cairns

We are lucky enough to have friends who own a villa in Mission beach, which lies directly opposite Dunk Island. The villa has been featured in Australian Style and Vogue magazines.
The villa is available to rent to the public at $600 AUD per night, although we were fortunate enough to stay here for free.
