Overall, the experience was certainly one that I'd happily repeat in the future. After having flown both in quick succession, my preference for short haul would definitely be for EVA air over Thai.

The Cirrus seat is great to have on a flight of this length. Save for a few exceptional routes, we can only dream of getting something this good in Europe.
Cathay Business Class service is also prompt and efficient but totally unmemorable

I was disappointed not to get the new seat but for a 95 minute flight this is a pretty fantastic experience. There is in-flight entertainment, a flat(ish) bed, a hot meal, a selection of drinks and the service is proactive and very friendly.
