The main service was chaotic, no doubt about it. However, the dine on demand really came into its own when I wanted to set my own schedule and here, much like at the bar, the service was sincere, friendly and professional.

The food and drink weren't quite on the level of JAL or ANA and the seats don't have closing doors like Singapore Suites or Etihad Apartments but the overall product ticks a lot of boxes. On a long haul flight Qatar First Class is exceptional and actually my main criticism is that it is sometimes deployed on routes that don't have the demand for First

Overall this flight firmly cemented to me the fact that Qatar First Class is a complete waste of time. Qatar's CEO famously declared that with Q Suites he was offering “First Class at a Business Class fare”. I'd say that in many ways it is actually better than First Class... at least where his airline is concerned.

I went into this flight with sky high expectations. Whenever I'm asked to pick a single favourite airline there's no hesitation. No possible alternative. It's Singapore.
I've been fortunate enough to fly the old Singapore Suites on eight occasions in the past and honestly the experience never gets old - it is still one of the very best products in the sky. This new cabin though, is on a completely different level....
